Update on the 2026 Great Pumpkin Trail Event at Muskoka Heritage Place
(Huntsville, ON) - Muskoka Heritage Place’s (MHP) Great Pumpkin Trail has been an annual Huntsville tradition for 37 years, designed to bring the community together to transform MHP into a family-friendly spooktacular village. It has been an event that residents have looked forward to every October. However, it is also an event that requires sponsorships and volunteers to make happen. In recent years it has become more challenging to attract the businesses and organizations needed to decorate the houses and bring the village to life.
Staff therefore made the difficult decision to pause the event in 2026 and redirect resources to other fall programming, including our new Cemetery Tales, After Hours Village Walking Tours, and joining the Downtown BIA’s growing Tiny Tots Halloween Parade.
When this unfortunate news made its way through the community, we heard your frustration. But it also sparked a conversation and a ton of support letting us know how important the event truly is. We are thrilled to share that several businesses have come forward and stepped up to make sure this year’s Great Pumpkin Trail will continue and make it the wonderful experience families and the entire community have enjoyed for so many years.
Thank you for your tremendous support, Huntsville. We can’t wait to welcome you on October 31 from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. (last admission at 7:00 p.m.) for a great evening of trick or treating fun!

We are still looking for more businesses and volunteers to assist with the event, so if you are interested, please reach out to the Muskoka Heritage Place Manager, Jillian Jordan at jillian.jordan@huntsville.ca or 705-789-7576 ext. 3210.
