Town Hall Brick Work Restoration Project Begins April 28
(Huntsville, ON) Restoration work on the brick exterior of Huntsville Town Hall will begin Monday, April 28, as part of an approved capital project directed through Town Council. The project is scheduled to be completed before the May long weekend to minimize disruption to the downtown area during the busy summer season.
The work will take place Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and will include brick repair and restoration to maintain the structural integrity and historic character of the building. Scaffolding will be erected around the building during the project.
In preparation for the restoration, the contractor will be removing the vines currently growing on Town Hall. Town staff will collect the vines for pick-up and distribution by the Huntsville Horticultural Society, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Cuttings from the historic vines will be offered to the public to grow at home as a living piece of local horticultural history. More information about when and where cuttings will be available will be shared shortly.
During construction, there may be a need to temporarily close the accessible sidewalk located on the west side of Town Hall, between Town Hall and Trinity United Church. If a closure is required, signage and alternate routes will be provided, and updates will be shared with the public as soon as information becomes available.
Regular facility maintenance like this is essential to protecting the Town’s infrastructure. Proactive investment helps extend the life of Town-owned buildings, ensures public safety, and avoids costly repairs in the future.
The Town of Huntsville appreciates the public’s understanding and support as this important restoration project moves forward.
