Métis Narrator - Student

Total Weekly Hours: 28 
Total Employment Length: 8 weeks

In this exciting opportunity, the student will split their time between Muskoka Heritage Place where 
they will be a Métis Narrator, and with Hope Arises Project as their Project Assistant. 

Muskoka Heritage Place Position: Métis Narrator - Student

  • Hours of work: Up to 14 hours per week
  • Location: Muskoka Heritage Place
  • 88 Brunel Road, Huntsville, ON

In this role you will:

  • Be part of a dynamic team delivering excellent customer experience
  • Be a representative of the Town of Huntsville's heritage hub, visited by over 20,000 
    tourists annually
  • Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor

Reporting to the Manager, Muskoka Heritage Place, and the Founder of Hope Arises Project Inc., the 
student will be responsible for the delivery of indigenous-focused activities, and supporting the 
Manager and working with Hope Arises Project Inc. to develop this content. This information may be 
interpreted to visitors by way of presentation or through demonstration and by experiential activities, 
in a factual, authentic, educational and entertaining manner.

Hope Arises Project Inc. Position: Project Assistant

  • Hours of work: Up to 14 hours per week
  • Location: Muskoka Heritage Place and remote
  • 88 Brunel Road, Huntsville, ON

Reporting to the Founder of Hope Arises Project Inc., the student will support the Founder and staff 
in community engagement and program promotion through digital content creation, digital media 
and project administration.  

This position is contingent on being funded by the Métis Nation of Ontario. The successful 
candidate must be Métis status, between the ages of 15 – 30 years old, be in school and 
returning to school in the fall. You must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills 
and have the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of personality types.  

The student hourly rate for this position is $16.60 (if under 18 years of age) or $17.60 (if 18 years old 
and older). Work schedules may vary to accommodate operational needs, which may require you 
to work weekdays, weekends and statutory holiday shifts.
