Manager of Planning

Reporting to the Director of Development Services, The Manager of Planning is responsible for providing policy development and recommending policy directions/options and project management activities. Provide professional planning advice and interpretation on matters related to various policy documents relating to various policy projects to staff, council, external agencies, the general public and the development industry, in accordance with the obligations and competencies specified as a professional planner. Undertake policy planning studies and special projects such as Official Plan reviews, Zoning By-law reviews, Secondary Plans, Community Improvement Plans, Heritage Conservation Plans and other policy matters. Prepare and presents detailed reports and implementation documents for consideration by Council on policy matters, special projects and other planning matters. You will also prepare estimates for annual operating budgets and keep abreast of physical, social and economic conditions, developments and trends in pertinent legislation and by-laws.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have five (5) years of progressive municipal work experience in a management or supervisory role with a University Degree in Planning. Full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective business planning skills, computer skills and decision-making ability are required as well as a commitment to maintain positive public relations. Proven skills in working with Council, Committees and external parties are also an asset

This role works in a general office environment and the hours of work 8:30 am to 4:30. You may be required to work additional hours outside of regular office hours Monday to Friday. The salary range for this position $112,639.80 to $124,178.60.
