Public Works Labourers (2 Positions)

The Town of Huntsville is currently seeking two (2) motivated and enthusiastic Summer Students – Public Works to join our Public Works team for the summer season. Reporting to the Operations Foreman, the successful candidate will assist with a variety of operational and maintenance activities that contribute to the safety, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of municipal infrastructure and public spaces.

What You Will Do

    • Assist with general road and roadside maintenance activities.
    • Support traffic control operations during maintenance and construction projects.
    • Perform general labour duties, including litter collection, vegetation management, brush clearing, and grounds maintenance.
    • Assist with pothole repairs and other municipal infrastructure projects.
    • Operate hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
    • Support departmental operations with general administrative and customer service-related tasks as required.
    • Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

    • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a secondary or post-secondary education program.
    • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence in good standing.
    • Must have or be willing to obtain Book 7 training certification.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong work ethic with a willingness to perform physical labour in various weather conditions.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Experience operating equipment, using hand tools, or performing outdoor labour is considered an asset.
    • Must provide and wear CSA-approved safety footwear.

This position starts mid-June and concludes September 3, 2026. and the hourly rate is $17.60.
