Manager of Fleet and Operations Facilities

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager of Fleet and Operations Facilities is responsible for the strategic planning, administration, and day-to-day oversight of the Town’s fleet, operational facilities, inventory, and related operational programs. This leadership role ensures the effective delivery of maintenance, repair, replacement, and asset management programs while maintaining compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and safety standards. The position is responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, budgets, and long-term plans that support organizational goals and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and supervision to staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and employee development. They will oversee fleet procurement and maintenance programs, operational facility operations and capital projects, inventory control systems, and asset management initiatives. In addition, the role plays a key part in budget development and administration, contract and project management, health and safety leadership, and the preparation of reports and recommendations for senior leadership and Council. This position requires a proactive, solutions-focused leader with strong organizational, technical, and relationship-building skills.

Qualifications include a University degree/college diploma and/ or professional designation relative in a professional discipline pertinent to the job function, combined with extensive progressively responsible management experience, ideally within the fleet, automotive or equipment industry, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. A minimum of five (5) years current related technical and management experience, preferably in municipal government (may include relative post grad training). Extensive experience in Fleet maintenance within a large fleet organization, at a managerial level, including the development and management of union and non-union staff, analysis and reporting requirements and associated measures.

The chosen candidate will have knowledge of corporate fleet management principles such as: Asset Management, Business Management covering regulations and legislation and the interaction with service contractors, insurance companies; Financial Management covering preparing and implementing a fleet budget, conducting lifecycle analysis, outsourcing decisions. They must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.

A valid Class DZ Licence and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Working conditions include a general office environment, as well as moving throughout multiple facilities with frequent movement between sitting and standing positions.

The salary range for this position is $102,393.20 to $112,894.60 based on a 35 hour work week, and includes a comprehensive benefit package. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
