Position: Historical Narrator (seasonal and student - multiple positions available)
Hours of work: Up to 35 hours per week
Location: Muskoka Heritage Place, 88 Brunel Road, Huntsville, ON
Rate of Pay: $18.94/hr

What Can I Expect in This Role:

You Will:

  • Be part of a dynamic team delivering excellent customer experience
  • Be a representative of the Town of Huntsville's heritage hub, visited by over 20,000 tourists annually
  • Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor
  • The Town of Huntsville is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated and creative individuals to work at Muskoka Heritage Place - Museum, Pioneer Village and Train for the 2026 season - June to October. Reporting to the Manager, Muskoka Heritage Place, the Narrator will relay historical information to visitors in a factual, authentic, educational and entertaining manner. Narration is done though demonstrations, presentations and hands-on activities.

How Do I Qualify?

  • Ability to communicate and to interpret effectively and diplomatically to large numbers of people of various ages and backgrounds
  • Knowledge of mid to late 19th century Ontario history; local history is an asset
  • Ability to study and learn the interpretive and historical material related to the position and Muskoka Heritage Place
  • Ability to wear historical costumes
  • Ability to perform and learn the skills associated with many positions within the Village: domestic life and chores, historical trade such as blacksmithing, gardening
  • Ability to learn and follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure safety of staff, volunteers and visitors is maintained at all times

The hourly rate for this position is $18.94. Work schedules may vary to accommodate operational needs, which will require you to work weekend and/or statutory holiday shifts.
