Statement from the Mayor – Honouring Terry Clarke
(Huntsville, ON) The flag at Town Hall has been lowered to half-mast to honour the passing of Huntsville’s past Mayor, Terry Clarke. Serving two consecutive terms from 1985 to 1991, Mayor Clarke and his Council had many accomplishments which continue to contribute to Huntsville today. During those six years, the Brunel Locks were repaired and revitalized, the Golden Pheasant Wastewater Treatment Plant was constructed, the McCulley Ball Diamonds were constructed, Riverside Park was developed, and the Town saw significant investment and development from the business community. Additionally, as the Chair of Public Works at the District of Muskoka, Mayor Clarke also helped establish a waste recycling program for Muskoka.
“We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Mayor Clarke and extend our sympathies to his family and friends. Lowering our flag is the least we can do for a man who dedicated himself to the community and was instrumental in shaping the Town into the Huntsville we know today,” shares Mayor Nancy Alcock. “He was involved with several major projects that are the building blocks of the Town services our residents use daily, and we want to take the time to recognize his contributions of his life’s work.”
