At the Special Council Meeting held on December 3, 2025, Council revisited their vote on the Gandhi statue from the November Council Meeting. In light of the community's response, Council voted unanimously against accepting the donation.  

All public comments that were sent to the Clerks department were shared with Council ahead of the meeting to capture the variety of opinions and concerns of Huntsville’s residents. 

As public art is tied so closely to the identity of Huntsville, staff have already initiated a review of the Public Art Donation Policy to further differentiate public art from monuments or statues of individuals and will ensure the policy is reflective of a variety of circumstances, types of donations, and methods of public consultation.
