October 2026 Municipal Election for Huntsville: Here’s What You Need to Know

On October 26, 2026, municipal elections will be held across Ontario. Huntsville residents will have the opportunity to choose the local leaders who will represent the community and guide the municipality’s direction for the next four years. 
 
Town government touches many aspects of daily life, and elections allow residents to choose the leaders who will make important decisions for Huntsville and our community’s future.   

This year, voting will take place by telephone and internet, allowing electors to cast their votes from any location.  

What you need to know prior to election day:  

Check if you are registered to vote
Residents should confirm that they are registered to vote. If you have recently moved, changed your name, or turned 18, your information may not be up to date. Take a moment to confirm or update your voter information and school board support by visiting:  

Key Dates
In preparation for the upcoming municipal election, the Town has identified some important key dates:  

  • April 30, 2026 - Candidate Information Session
                               6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
                               District Municipality of Muskoka, 70 Pine St., Bracebridge, ON  
  • May 1, 2026 – August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.: Candidate nomination period
  • May 1, 2026 - October 23, 2026: Registration period for Third-Party Advertisers
  • October 14 – October 26, 2026: Cast your vote
