Calling All Local Artists: Council Chamber Public Gallery to Feature Local Art

Joint Release (Huntsville) – The Town of Huntsville and Huntsville Art Society (HAS) are excited to jointly announce a call to artists for two-dimensional or relief works of art to display in the public area of the Council Chamber in Town Hall.

“We are known as a deeply creative town represented by a vibrant community of diverse artists,” explains Mayor Nancy Alcock. “What better way to demonstrate our civic pride and celebrate our creative economy than to display original works in the Council Chamber where we conduct the official Town of Huntsville business.”

This new opportunity featuring local artists in the Council Chamber adds to the growing list of community galleries in Town facilities curated by the HAS.

“HAS is delighted that the Town reached out to invite our diverse membership of artists to display artistic expressions in Council Chambers,” says Belinda Chiu, HAS Board Chair. “We echo Mayor Alcock’s comments and certainly look forward to yet another venue for our HAS artists to show their work as we continue our collaborations with the Town of Huntsville,” adds Karen Cassien, HAS Board Member.
