Bilingual Historical Narrator

The Town of Huntsville is a scenic tourist-based community located in Muskoka cottage country. Huntsville, with a population approaching 20,000, is the largest community in the District of Muskoka and is a vibrant and dynamic community in which to live, work and play.

The Town of Huntsville is looking for a bilingual, enthusiastic, dedicated, and creative individual to work at our Muskoka Museum, Pioneer Village, and Steam Museum for the 2025 season who is available until the fall! Reporting directly to the Manager, Muskoka Heritage Place, the Narrator’s main responsibility is to relay historical information to visitors in a factual, authentic, educational, and entertaining manner. This information may be relayed by recital, by re-enacting historical activities by way of demonstration and by physically involving the visitor by “hands-on” activity.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of local history and be able to learn the main site storylines as provided by the Muskoka Heritage Place Narrator’s manual.

**Please note: To be eligible for this position, you must be bilingual, between the ages of 15 and 30, and be returning to school in the fall. You must also be willing to commit to the full duration of the assignment and not have another full-time job over 30 hours a week. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a diverse range of individuals. This role must be filled by a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada. Non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.

The hourly rate for this position is $18.20. Work schedules may vary to accommodate operational needs, which may require you to work weekend and statutory holiday shifts.
