Parks Attendant

We are looking for the following position to complement our Operations Division:

Parks Attendant (2 Vacancies)

Reporting to the Lead Hands, the Parks Attendant will ensure the proper care of the Town of Huntsville horticulture system including the performance of planning and maintenance tasks related to the care of municipal gardens, annual and perennial displays, shrubs and trees. The Park Attendant is also responsible for the operation of fleet vehicles-truck and trailer, and other various equipment to ensure the general maintenance and upkeep of the parks systems which includes grass cutting, sports field maintenance, debris pick-up, special events set-up and other duties as assigned.

Between November 1st and April 15th this position will be scheduled as part of the winter operations shift rotation. Shifts will be scheduled in advance of the season across 7 days of the week, (starting as early as 4:00am). Employees are also on call on a rotating basis, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Additional hours may also need to be worked outside of the scheduled shifts but they will not exceed the daily hours of work legislation as per the Employment Standards Act.

Ideally the successful candidate will have completed high school. Horticulture and sports field maintenance experience as well as snow removal experience an asset. Must possess excellent customer service skills and be willing to perform various duties in a range of weather conditions and must have a valid Class G driver’s licence.

The hourly rate for this position is $28.94 to $31.90 and includes a comprehensive benefit package. Hours of work will include weekends, nights and holidays and will be on call during winter operations.
