Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, the Engineering Technician will assist in the design, review, and development of all municipal projects in the municipality. Including land development, public works and stormwater, site inspection, preparation of construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts as well as providing technical review of all planning applications on behalf of the municipality. In addition, you will assist in managing project budgets, assist in developing reports, inspecting project sites and monitoring progress of work, ensure compliance with government and safety regulations and provide feedback to management regarding technical and structural aspects of projects. You will use your strong technical skills to work collaboratively and effectively with ratepayers, contractors, and staff of multiple disciplines.
Desirable Training and Experience
- Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized college or equivalent
- Must hold a C. Tech or CET designation with Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)\
- hree to five years’ experience in municipal engineering and development
- Sound understanding of engineering standards, theories, and principles
- Knowledge of theory, principles, practices and techniques of public works, stormwater management, development, traffic engineering and public works maintenance functions
- Excellent presentation and communication skills and the capability to explain and communicate effectively to non-engineering team members
- Ability to plan, direct and integrate broad, comprehensive capital programs and activities
The salary range for this position is $85,995.00 to $94,803.80 based on a 35-hour work week, including an attractive benefit package.
