The Town of Huntsville requires a visionary and innovative leader to fill the position of Director of Operations.

Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer and recognizing the unlimited potential of this vibrant community and the importance of achieving strategic goals and objectives, the Director will lead departments responsible for parks, cemeteries, engineering, and roads. You will use your strong leadership and financial skills to guide the Town of Huntsville through interesting and challenging projects. In addition to leading your respective departments, you will instill corporate values and strategically tie your departments to the municipality’s strategic goals and objectives. Working with stakeholders and Town Council, you will provide information on emerging policy and relative professional and departmental issues as well as options and recommendations enabling the municipality to make informed decisions on behalf of the community.

As a seasoned candidate, you are an innovative and motivational leader who has had responsibility for providing effective leadership in your respective environments. You are vision oriented, possess strong political acuity and interpersonal skills and have a genuine belief in the value of public participation and the proven ability to develop credibility and work effectively with elected officials, employees and external stakeholders.

Ideally, the successful candidate would possess:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration or Parks Administration from a recognized university or other post-secondary training in related field that demonstrates management, leadership and/or technical expertise.
• Five to ten years municipal experience managing a significant engineering/public works/parks/cemetery management division.
• Knowledge of theory, principles, practices and techniques of public works, traffic engineering, public works maintenance functions, parks and/or cemetery management.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, including budgeting, purchasing and the maintenance of public records, organization, and functions of an elected Town Council.
• Ability to plan, direct and integrate broad, comprehensive programs and activities within all disciplines of the division.
• Analyze complex issues and problems and evaluate alternative solutions and develop sound conclusions, recommendations, and courses of action.
• To complement these features knowledge of lean practices and background in implementation to improve quality of process outputs is an asset.

The Town of Huntsville offers an attractive benefit package and a competitive salary range. The salary range for this position is $141,923.60 to $156,465.40.
