Deck Supervisor/Aquatics Lifeguard

We are looking for the following position to complement our Community Services Division:
Deck Supervisor/Aquatics Lifeguard
Reporting to the Manager of Aquatics and Aquatic Supervisor this position has a dual role of Deck Supervisor and Aquatics Lifeguard. As Deck Supervisor you will provide programs during your shift. You will ensure that the staff are supported and that they are indeed providing high quality lessons to our patrons. As Aquatics Lifeguard you will maintain diligent safety supervision, enforce rules and regulations, and recognize and respond to any emergency.
The success candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Certification in National Lifeguard and Swim for Life Instructor (or equivalent), Standard First Aid
- 1-5 years’ experience as an instructor or/and lifeguard
- Experience as a coach and mentor
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of personality types.
- Creative flair and ability to adapt games for teaching purposes
The following qualification would be considered an asset:
- Secondary education
- Aquatic Fitness Instructor Certification or Training
- Swim Instructor Trainer, National Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, Examiner Course
- Proficient use in personal computer applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook are also required.
- High Five certification
The annual salary range, based on a 35-hour work week, for this position is $46,893.60 to $51,701.00 and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
