Gear Up for Fun: Mayor’s Bike Ride and Kids' Bike Rodeo Come Together for One Epic Day!

(Huntsville, ON) June is Bike Month and the Town of Huntsville has partnered with The SportLab and local organizations including, Huntsville Mountain Bike Association, TriMuskoka, Kiwanis Club of Huntsville Muskoka, the O.P.P, the Muskoka Bicycle Pro Shop, Algonquin Outfitters and the Rotary Club of North Muskoka are excited to bring the community together for a fun-filled, family-friendly day on Thursday, June 12, 2025, with the Mayor’s Bike Ride and Kids' Bike Rodeo.

For the first time, these two popular events will be held together on the same day, creating an unforgettable celebration of cycling, bike safety, and active living. As part of the Gear Up for Kids Program, this initiative promotes bike safety, active transportation, and physical activity while fostering a healthier, more connected community.

These events are designed to engage cyclists of all ages and skill levels. The Mayor’s Bike Ride and Kids' Bike Rodeo celebrate the countless benefits of biking, from boosting your mental and physical health to helping reduce chronic health issues and promoting sustainable, eco-friendly transportation.

Event Details:

Kids' Bike Rodeo – pick a timeslot and ride through a series of bike challenges testing your ability to brake, turn and maneuver safely on the road.  A bike and helmet check is part of each ride.

Date: Thursday, June 12, 2025
Ages: 4-9
Time: 4:30 – 6:30 PM (last entry at 6:00 PM)

Location: Jack Bionda Arena Pad, Canada Summit Centre, 20 Park Dr, Huntsville ON P1H 1P5. Please enter the building via the Front entrance of the Canada Summit Centre

The Kids’ Bike Rodeo is free of charge, however advanced registration is required at huntsville.ca.

Mayor’s Bike Ride – The Town has come together with the Huntsville Mountain Bike Association, Tri-Muskoka Triathlon Club, and the Sportlab in celebration of Bike Month and the benefits of active transportation. Choose from one of three rides: mountain biking through Lance’s Loop, one hour ride along Brunel Road, or a 6.6km in-town ride with Mayor Alcock. 

Date: Thursday, June 12, 2025

Ages: All ages welcome: children must be accompanied by an adult
Time: 6:30 – 8:00 PM (stagging at 6:30pm, ride departs at 7:00 PM)
Location: Departing from the Active Living Centre, 20 Park Dr, Huntsville ON P1H 1P5, across from the Rotary Train Station

Need a bike? The Muskoka Bicycle Pro Shop is offering rentals for $20 for the event. Just drop by the Shop before the event to check one out!

Participants are asked to arrive at 6:30 p.m. Pre-register online to save time, or you can register when you arrive. Waivers are required for this event.

Supporting the Next Generation of Cyclists
Mayor Nancy Alcock, who launched the Gear Up for Kids Program, is excited to bring the community together to support local youth through the gift of a bike. "Biking is more than just a physical activity; it builds confidence, independence, and a sense of connection. By giving kids access to bikes, we’re investing in their future and the future of our community,” says Mayor Alcock.
