Post-Meeting Highlights

Council Post-Meeting Highlights – January 26, 2026

This month, Council heard on a variety of topics, including an invited presentation and staff report on BetterHomes Huntsville, and information on road work impacting King William Street in 2026.

  • The invited presentation and staff report on BetterHomes Huntsville will share details and information on the launch of this program which will help residents finance energy-efficient upgrades to their home. This initiative targets housing affordability by reducing the financial barriers to making homes in Huntsville more energy-efficient and comfortable, as well as supporting the Town’s climate action goals.
    • OUTCOME: BetterHomes Huntsville has officially launched (view announcement here) and is open for applications. Huntsville residents can now access low-interest financing for eligible home upgrades to help make their home more energy-efficient and comfortable.
  • This spring, the Town of Huntsville and District of Muskoka are starting a joint infrastructure project for the reconstruction of King William Street. The project includes the full removal and replacement of traffic signal infrastructure, sanitary and storm sewers, watermains, curbs, sidewalks, boulevards, and the roadway along King William Street between Scott Street and Highway 60. To minimize the duration of this project, Town staff are seeking an exemption to the noise by-law to allow for expanded construction hours, including evenings and weekends.
    • OUTCOME: Council passed the by-law exemption in support of project efficiency.
