Pre-condition surveys for residents/owners in construction area

  • Dufferin Construction and their contractor OZA Inspections Inc., will be hand delivering pre-condition letters outlining options for property owners to take advantage of a pre-condition survey for their property
  • Blasting may be required to take place as construction progresses. If blasting is required, a completed pre-condition survey for the property is favourable
  • There is no charge for this pre-condition survey service. Should you have questions or concerns – please contact District of Muskoka at publicworks@muskoka.on.ca

Navigating downtown

The construction project will impact the flow of traffic and parking in our downtown core over the anticipated 8 month construction schedule, but access to stores, services and restaurants are open. Plan your trip in advance:

  • Know the detour routes, discover the handy interactive maps of construction stages.
  • Know where to park. The following parking lots will be open throughout construction: River Mill Parking Lot, the High Street Parking Lots as well as the Canada Summit Centre Parking Lot.

Detour areas

Living on or near a detour area

The construction project will impact traffic in our community, and residents living on detour routes can expect higher volumes of traffic. Detour routes from all construction stages can be viewed on our parking and detour page.

  • Waste and Recycling: during construction all waste and recycling services will be maintained per your regular collection day schedule. If you have collection concerns please connect with the District of Muskoka

Access to school areas

We are committed to working with our local School Board throughout all Stages of this project. Residents are encouraged to review the detour maps and construction stage information, to plan their travel to and from School Zone areas, especially during peak before and after school drop-off times. We are working with the Transportation division on any scheduled changes, if any routes are altered, families will be contacted directly in advance.

  • Huntsville High School - Stage 1 construction includes road closures at the Main Street Swing Bridge, resulting in no access to Brunel Road from Main Street. Detour routes will be established in advance to avoid the construction area. We ask that our community plan extra travel time, especially before and after school.
  • Huntsville Public School - There are no direct impacts to the Huntsville Public School area in Stage 1, although it’s recognized that increased traffic will be experienced at the Centre Street intersection due to the road closures on Main Street. We look forward to working with our partners as the Stages progress, to mitigate issues and address our community’s concerns.
