Accessible Customer Service

The Accessibility Standards for Customer Service Policy applies to all Town employees, members of Council, agent, volunteer, student on placement, or otherwise, who deal with the public or other third parties.  This policy is followed in accordance with the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, AODA 2005 (Ontario Regulation 429/07).  If you'd like to read more about this, more information is available on the Accessible Customer Service page.

Online Accessibility & Access to Information on our Website

As we work to upgrade our online software and services in 2018, we hope that the Online Accessibility page will help provide you with some optional tools to better your experience and access the information you are looking for.

Alternate Format Documents

We are working toward a more accessible website with content that reflects our dedication to accessibility. Please understand that this is a process that may take us awhile to make seamless.  Therefore if there is any content that you need but are unable to access please let us know and we will be happy to provide an accessible version upon request.  

We are also pleased to offer a multi-format option for all municipal documents.  Please contact our Clerks department for any requests or for further assistance.

Accessible Electronic Documents

As staff work to create accessible electronic documents in compliance with the World Wide Web Consortium Guidelines 2.0, level AA, citizens may find documents which have not been converted yet.  Please contact the Corporate Information department staff who are happy to work with you to be sure you get the accessible version of a document as quickly as possible.

TTY (teletypewriter)

We offer TTY service by request Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Contact customer service staff by email, phone or in person.
Additional Accessibility Services are offered in the in the local telephone book through a TTY Relay Service.

Accessibility Plan

The Town of Huntsville Accessibility Plan is in place to address accessibility concerns, make necessary changes and point out accomplishments that the Corporation has achieved to date. 

Service Animals

Service Animals often are required to assist a person with a disability.  These animals are permitted in Town of Huntsville facilities if documentation from a regulated health professional is provided.  Staff may request to see this documentation (in compliance with Section 80.47 of the Integrated Accessibility Standard Regulation) which will confirm that the animal is required for reasons related to a disability.
