three images of local trails

Huntsville's great outdoor surroundings provide a fantastic opportunity for our community to lead healthy and active lifestyles.  There is a great system of trails and parks and beaches in this area:

Fairy Vista Trail - Paved 3.4 km

The Fairy Vista Trail is an all season trail travelling through fields, forests and wetlands. It is for all types of recreational activity with the exception that no motorized vehicles are allowed.  The Fairy Vista Trail is accessible near the corner of Hwy #60 and Fairyview Drive.

Hunters Bay Trail - 3.6km

The Hunters Bay Trail is a walking, running and cycling trail. It begins at the Centre Street bridge near Uponor and winds along the river, under the railway trestle, along the south side of Hunters Bay, through the Avery Beach Park and onwards under the Hwy #11 bridge. This is an ideal place to relax while fishing or swimming or just enjoying the trail. Orchard Park is at the southern tip of the bay that looks down the full length of the bay.

Trans Canada Trail - 52 km one way

Starting at the north end, the first 10 km winds through the woods on a natural surface. The next 13 km are on secondary roads and Town streets. There are a variety of pedestrians and vehicles sharing the road. The next 3.8km are on the Hunters Bay Trail once again on a natural surface. The remaining 25 km are mainly along secondary roads with some paved sections and some gravel sections.

Yonge Street Trail - 1.5 km

This trail is a natural ground trail through mature forest. Yonge St. is in the west end of town, off Main St. W. Turn south (away from the lake) and when you meet Townline Rd. keep to your right. This is the Yonge St. Extension. At the end, there is a turnaround area where you can park. This trail can take about 30 minutes to walk. Please remain on the trail as private lands border the trail. Estimated cycle time: 10 minutes.

Lions Lookout Trail - 1.3 km

The Lions Lookout Trail can be accessed at the Forbes Hill Dr and Camp Kitchen Road intersection behind the Active Living Centre at the Canada Summit Centre. The trail follows Camp Kitchen Road along the Muskoka River to Fairy Lake. It then crosses the Portage Flyer railway tracks and heads up a steep slope to the top of the sports track. The trail continues around the track and along the roadway to Forbes Hill Dr. The view from the top of the track across Fairy Lake is magnificent.

Please remember to use etiquette on all trails. For cyclists or people travelling faster than other walkers please let those ahead of you know you are passing.
