Canada Day July 1, 2017 - Happy 150 Birthday, Canada!

Although the weather is looking rainy, we are prepared to carry on the celebration!

If there is rain on July 1, the decision of outdoor vs. indoor festivities will be made at 7:30am by Media Release and Social Media Updates. 

Celebrations Happening in Huntsville

The Decades Parade is a Canada 150 addition to Huntsville's traditional Canada Day celebration.

Canada is 150 years young, and the Town of Huntsville is celebrating our sesquicentennial in style! Come on out for events and festivities & wear your red and white to mark this very special birthday.

Lions Club Breakfast

  • 8:00am in River Mill Park
  • Peameal bacon on a bun

Decades Parade

  • 9:00am on Main Street
  • Huntsville's history strolls down Main Street from Centre to King, to River Mill Park
  • An interactive celebration of all that Huntsville has been, is now and will be
    • The Decades Parade team is looking for volunteers to fill various roles in this fun and historic event

Muskoka Concert Band & Huntsville Festival Choir

  • 9:50am in River Mill Park
  • Over 100 participants from local choirs join Neil Barlow and his 34 piece orchestra, providing song celebrating Canada

O Canada & Canada Day Cupcakes

  • 10:00am in River Mill Park
  • Mayor Scott Aitchison and dignitaries including MP Tony Clement, MPP Norm Miller and members of Town Council join Huntsville's namesake Cap't George Hunt
  • There will be singing, of course, and cupcakes
  • O Canada flags, tattoos and pins

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232

  • 11:00am at  21 Veteran's Way
  • Festivities and BBQ all day, band from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
  • Roast beef dinner starting at 5:00pm (two sittings)
  • Dance to live music 8:30pm to midnight
  • Donations welcomed

Muskoka Heritage Place Strawberry Social & Steam Up Day

  • 10:00am - 4:00pm at 88 Brunel Road
  • Live entertainment, costumed narrators, historical demonstrations and strawberry scones with fresh cream, while supplies last
  • Hop aboard for the Portage Flyer's first official steam run of the season. Regular admission rates

Downtown Huntsville Food & Music Festival

  • 11:00am - 4:00pm on Main Street
  • Main Street turns into a pedestrian mall and gallery with live music and even a bouncy castle, courtesy of the merchants of downtown

Huntsville 100K Farmers Market

  • 9:00am - 2:00pm on West Street South
  • Homegrown, homemade, local food and crafts

Port Sydney Celebration

  • 10:00am - 3:30pm at Port Sydney Beach
  • Beach party music and BBQ, sand castle competition, decorate a Canada Day t-shirt, kids activities, Citizen of the Year and much more!

Painting the Wilderness of the Oxtongue

  • 2:00pm - 3:15pm film at the Algonquin Theatre
  • A cinematic journey along the Oxtongue waterway, exploring locales painted by Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven.
