Operator Assistant - Part time position

Planning Technician - Temporary position

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Planning or directly related field. A working knowledge of the Planning Act, Official Plan and Zoning By-law, other planning related legislation and related experience is desired. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, practical experience and advanced knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel and Word and GIS applications are required. A valid G license and access to transportation is also required.

Lead Hand Facilities - Full time position

This will include the performance of the actual cleaning and disinfection, as well as assigning and supervising facility staff in the performance of these tasks.

Your success in this role is dependent on your ability to work effectively under limited supervision and exercise sound independent action and judgment with staff, customer groups, contractors and the public. You will have working knowledge of custodial services within a recreational facility including the ability to operate the associated equipment with the knowledge of materials, principles, practices, methods and procedures used in custodial and maintenance services.

You must have a secondary school diploma and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a custodial/maintenance position. Preferably within a municipal facility that had arena and pool facilities. Preference will be given for those that have a two (2) years of supervisory experience that includes scheduling, assigning tasks, leading a team of 10+ people including performance management and developing standard operating procedures. Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications such as Outlook, Excel and Word are a must. This position also requires a valid Class G Driver’s License and a Criminal Police Background Check.

The hourly rate range for the position is $35.55 to $39.19 based on a 40-hour per week shift schedule that will include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Main Schedule will be 8 hours a day, 5 days a week from Friday to Tuesday with Wednesday and Thursday as days off. A comprehensive benefits package is also included.

Seasonal By-law Enforcement Officer - Seasonal position

The Town of Huntsville is looking to hire a Seasonal By-law Enforcement Officer to provide consistent, professional and customer-oriented parking services on-street in downtown Huntsville.

Reporting through the Chief By-law Enforcement Officer, this position will be responsible for monitoring vehicles and enforcing the Towns’ parking by-laws while communicating with and educating the public concerning Town parking.

In addition to monitoring parking, the Seasonal By-law Enforcement Officer will provide directions, and provide more “eyes and ears” on the street. They will be knowledgeable of Huntsville’s businesses and landmarks, town programs and services and will help connect residents and visitors with destinations and information.

The Seasonal By-law Enforcement Officer will be a strong communicator, approachable, skilled at providing information and have a demonstrated history of working with the public. Ideally, the successful candidate will currently be enrolled in police foundations or an equivalent program. Historical Narrator - Seasonal position

Reporting directly to the Manager, Muskoka Heritage Place, the Narrator’s main responsibility is to relay pre-learned historical information to visitors in a factual, authentic, educational and entertaining manner. This information may be relayed by recital, by re-enacting historical activities by way of demonstration and by physically involving the visitor by “hands-on” activity.

The incumbent is charged to assist in ensuring the smooth, efficient and professional operation of Muskoka Heritage Place including the safety and protection of all personnel, guests, the site, the collection and programming. Daily light cleaning duties of assigned buildings are to be carried out and building specific cleaning sheets completed and submitted to the Collections Coordinator. Other duties may include operating museum, village and train admissions, food and beverage sales and their cash control systems.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of local history and be able to learn the main site story-lines as provided by the Muskoka Heritage Place Narrator’s manual. You must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of personality types. Also, you have a working knowledge of pioneer equipment and practices.

Legislative and Legal Functions and Processes

Assists with creating by-laws and policies. Responsible for writing staff reports in relation to policies under the jurisdiction of the Deputy Clerk. Deputy Signing Officer as an appointed official for the Corporation and performs statutory duties of the Clerk in the absence of the Municipal Clerk. Oversees Clerks and Governance Budget Sheets.

Marriage Issuer, Deputy Division Registrar and Commissioner of Oaths
Responsible for Marriage Licence, Stillbirth and Death databases and records. Liaison with Funeral Homes and Officer of the Registrar General. Acts as Commission or Oaths in accordance with the Commissioner for Taking Affidavits Act.

Accessibility

Acts as the Accessibility Advisory Coordinator. Works with the Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee to ensure all corporate wide legislation requirements for AODA are met. Champions and promotes accessibility requirements/best practices. Submits all accessible reporting requirements to the province.

Municipal Election

Acts as Election DRO during the year of Municipal Election. Responsible for assisting with the planning, organization and delivery of the Municipal Election with the coordination of the Clerk.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma in Public or Business Administration
  • A professional municipal designation such as CMO, AMP, AOMC an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in progressively responsible, related positions.
  • Knowledge of municipal by-laws, policies, government administration, Council processes and parliamentary procedures.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer application knowledge (including the Microsoft suite of solutions) with a demonstrated ability to learn and implement new technological solutions.

Reporting directly to the Recreation & Leisure Coordinator, Community Services Division, the summer camp staff will facilitate the Summer Day Camps to campers ages 4-12 in accordance to the policies and procedures established by the Town of Huntsville. Prescribed programs have been created with a focus on recreation, traditional camp activities, arts and crafts, sports and games. Duties include; planning, participating and supervising children and children’s activities, to provide for the necessary care for each child, providing suggestions for program enhancement, to obtain and develop learning materials/resources, completion of time sheets and any training and attendance at staff meetings.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children (ages 4 -12) and will understand a variety of sports, cooperative games, arts/crafts and summer camp fun.

Relevant qualifications include
