Facility Operator 2 - Temporary position

An excellent opportunity awaits you at the Town of Huntsville. Within this exciting setting, the Town of Huntsville has a vibrant downtown and offers many cultural and outdoor recreational opportunities.

The Town of Huntsville is currently looking to hire a Facility Operator 2, on a Two (2) Month contract basis, to cover a leave (specific details will be discussed during the hiring process).

  • Facility Operator 2
    • Reporting to the Lead Hand and Maintenance Manager, the Facility Operator is responsible for the proper cleanliness, maintenance and preventative services at the Canada Summit Centre, Huntsville Civic Centre, Community Halls and other select municipal building as deemed necessary including pool and arena(x2) facilities which includes the pool plant and refrigeration.
    • Completion of secondary school with 1-3 years of experience in a municipally managed arena/recreation center. The completion of the TSSA Refrigeration Operator Class B, Certified Pool Operator or the following courses would be considered an asset: Basic Refrigeration, Advance Refrigeration, Ice Making and Painting, Ice Maintenance and Operations and Recreation Facility Environmental Services HVAC. General knowledge of arena/pool operations and experience in the operation of an Olympia ice resurfacer. Additional background in HVAC operations and building automation systems is an asset. A valid Class G Driver’s License and a criminal background check is also required
    • The hourly rate range is $29.25 to $32.23 based on a 40-hour per week shift schedule that could include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. A comprehensive benefits package is also included.

    • The hourly rate range for a certified Class B operator is $31.57 to $34.80 and for a non-certified operator is $29.25 to $32.23 based on a 40-hour per week shift schedule that could include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. A comprehensive benefits package is also included.

Finance Clerk - Full time position

The Financial Services Division is seeking candidates to fill the Finance Clerk position. This position will assist in the administration of municipal accounting activities to ensure accounting procedures are within generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with the statutory requirements set under applicable legislation and regulations. These will include general ledger maintenance including posting of journal entries, balancing, intercompany/interfund transactions, daily uploads and reconciliation of various accounts. Reconciling integration accounts with other systems, preparing multiple bank reconciliations for general, trust fund and cemetery accounts, preparing investment reconciliations.  Assist departments with financial research, commodity tax, grants and accounts analysis. Assist with year-end audit and back up for the bids and tenders’ procurement system.  

The ideal candidate will have a diploma/degree in accounting or equivalent. Completion of AMCTO Municipal Administration Program (MAP) and Municipal Accounting Finance Program (MAFP) and CPA Canada Public Sector Accounting Certificate an asset.   General knowledge of municipal accounting with over three (3) years of relevant experience an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, practical experience and advanced knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word required. Self-motivated with a keen sense of customer service and excellent decision-making skills. Open to change, with a learning attitude towards work and team contributions. Ability to exercise judgment and use discretion in relaying information for the betterment of the organization.

The salary range for this position is $62,080.20 to $68,432 based on a 35-hour work week and includes a comprehensive benefit plan.

FINANCE CLERK – Competition

Seasonal Operator(s)

This contract position starts this fall and runs to approximately May 17, 2025, for the Winter season. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of heavy equipment operation and posses a minimum of a valid DZ licence. This position will require the successful candidate to work independently and make appropriate decisions and also as part of a team under general guidance of the Roads Foreman or his designate. During the winter season this position will rotate from morning to afternoon shift and will be a 40 hour per week shift.  This position is also required to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days every other week during the entire length of the winter season.

The current hourly rate for this position is $28.75.
