Due to a leave of absence the Development Services Division is looking for an Administrative Assistant – Planning.

Recognizing the importance and understanding to provide exceptional customer service the Administrative Assistant – Planning will provide service delivery to a diverse client base in a friendly and knowledgeable manner for the Planning Department. In addition, this position acts as the recording secretary for the Committee of Adjustment and Planning Committee Meetings and supports the administrative needs of the Planning Department with respect to circulation of planning notices, processing applications and records management.

The ideal candidate should have post-secondary education in office administration and experience in working in a planning consulting firm or municipal planning department is an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective business planning skills, computer skills and decision-making ability are required as well as a commitment to maintain positive public relations. Proven skills in working with Council, Committees and external parties are also an asset.

The hourly rate for this position is $28.04 per hour$(based on a 35-hour work week)

Day Camp and Junior Counsellors

The Town of Huntsville is a scenic tourist-based community located in Muskoka cottage country. With a population approaching 20,000, it is the largest community in the District of Muskoka and is fashioned as a vibrant and dynamic destination to live, work and play.

Day Camp Counsellors and Day Camp Junior Counsellors

Due to a successful Summer Day Camp program, there are openings for summer seasonal part-time Day Camp Junior Counsellors and Day Camp Counsellors. Reporting directly to the Recreation & Leisure Coordinator in the Community Services Division, the above listed summer camp staff will facilitate Summer Day Camps to campers age 4-14 in accordance to the policies and procedures established by the Town of Huntsville. Prescribed programs have been created with a focus on recreation, traditional camp activities, arts and crafts, sports and games. Duties include; planning, participating and supervising children and children’s activities, to provide for the necessary care for each child, providing suggestions for program enhancement, to obtain and develop learning materials/resources, completion of time sheets and any training and attendance at staff meetings. Day Camp Staff must also complete incident report forms when necessary, and to maintain camper confidentiality at all times.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid CPR and First Aid Certification, possess excellent personal and organizational skills, and be enthusiastic and have a keen interest in working with children. High Five training is an asset. NLS certification is also an asset. Must have previous experience working with children (ages 4-14 years) and have an understanding of many sports, cooperative games, arts/crafts and summer camp fun.

Horticulture Maintenance

Lead Hand Custodial

Lead Hand Custodial

We are looking for a Lead Hand Custodial to complement our Community Services Division. Under the general direction of the Facilities Manager the Lead Hand will oversee the day to day cleaning, disinfection and general upkeep of the Canada Summit Centre, Huntsville Civic Centre, Community Halls, and other select municipal buildings as deemed necessary. This will include the performance of the actual cleaning and disinfection, as well as assigning and supervising custodial staff in the performance of these tasks.

Your success in this role is dependent on your ability to work effectively under limited supervision and exercise sound independent action and judgment with staff, customer groups, contractors and the public. You will have working knowledge of custodial services within a recreational facility including the ability to operate the associated equipment with the knowledge of materials, principles, practices, methods and procedures used in custodial services.

You must have a secondary school diploma and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a custodial position within a municipal facility that preferably had arena and pool operations. You will have previous supervisory experience that includes scheduling, assigning tasks and developing standard operating procedures. Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word is a must. This position also requires a valid Class G Driver’s License and a Criminal Police Background Check.

The hourly rate range for the position is $32.72 to $36.06 based on a 40-hour per week shift schedule that could include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. A comprehensive benefits package is also included.

Yard/Fleet Administrator

We are looking for a Yard/Fleet Administrator to complement our Operations & Protective Services Division. The Yard/Fleet Administrator will take the lead role in the coordination and organizing of the Madill Yard garage and related sites as well as fleet management. This position is responsible for the supervision of Mechanics and for the efficient and effective daily operation of the yard. The scope of fleet management will include tendering, maintenance of vehicles, and disposal of unused equipment as well as ordering and controlling vehicle and equipment parts. Maintains stock room ensuring stock is ordered and arranges parts and supplies for pick-up/delivery. Orders and monitors material and supplies such as signs, culverts, catch basins, construction material for the yard. Reviews monthly budget reports to ensure those areas are within budget parameters.

Ideally, the successful candidate would possess a valid Ontario Truck and Coach Service Technician Certificate and a valid Automotive Service Technician Certificate with a valid DZ driver’s licence. Experience and knowledge in overseeing a mechanical repair shop as well as management of fleet plans including repair and replacement is an asset. Must have excellent analytical, interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills and an excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications.

The hourly range for this position is $35.33 to $38.95 and is based on a 40 hour work week including an attractive benefit package.
