(HUNTSVILLE, ON) In compliance with Step 1 of the province's Roadmap to Reopen, Muskoka Heritage Place is pleased to announce the Pioneer Village and Portage Flyer Train will open for the 2021 season on Tuesday, June 15 2021. At this time, the Muskoka Museum and Steam Museum are still closed to the public.

“We are thrilled to announce we are open June 15 for the 2021 season,” notes Ron Gostlin Manager of Muskoka Heritage Place, “being open last season, we learned how the pioneer village can work with Covid-19 restrictions and the visitor experience is every bit as awesome!” The Pioneer Village offers plenty of space for physical distancing and open air and is a great destination for families whether they have a few hours to spend or want to explore and learn all day. Visitors can look forward to exploring the 35-acre Pioneer Village daily from 10:00am – 4:00pm, and enjoy costumed narrators, farm animals, gardens, activities and demonstrations. Please note that the last admission for the day is 3:00pm.

Take a scenic trip along the Muskoka River in our open-air coaches on the Portage Flyer Train. Ride the Diesel Electric Train from June 15 – June 30, Tuesdays to Friday’s at 1:00pm and on weekends at noon, 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm. Starting July 1 and for the remainder of the summer get a close-up look at the operation of our Steam Train on Tuesdays to Saturday at noon, 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm.

This season, Muskoka Heritage Place is offering an admissions check-in service for guests to book their arrival time in advance of their planned visit. As our admissions office is on the smaller side, booking a check-in time allows our guests quick and safe processing through our admissions office to maintain Covid-19 physical distancing measures. Guests who choose not to utilize the check-in service may have to wait while staff process groups ahead of them. Please note, that at this time check-in service for the Train is not available. To check-in please visit for details.

Regular hours of operation are subject to change due the Covid-19 pandemic, so please make sure to check before heading out for some time travelling fun.

For those looking to experience what life was like in the 1800s please read the following protocols:
