(Huntsville, ON) The Town of Huntsville is working with the District of Muskoka, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) to monitor the Restricted Fire Zone area daily. The fires from Northern Ontario and Quebec have created a smoke plume affecting the region and conditions are anticipated to last for at least another week.

(Huntsville, ON) The Town of Huntsville has been notified by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) that as of 12:01am June 1, 2023, as part of the Minden/Parry Sound/Bracebridge MNRF District, Huntsville is now a Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ). 

A Restricted Fire Zone is a specific geographic area where the use of open fires, like campfires or debris burning is restricted and burning permits are suspended. This restriction is instituted by MNRF under the Forest Fires Prevention Act.
