Media Release: Restricted Fire Zone in Effect for Huntsville

(Huntsville, ON) The Town of Huntsville has been notified by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) that as of 12:01am June 1, 2023, as part of the Minden/Parry Sound/Bracebridge MNRF District, Huntsville is now a Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ).
A Restricted Fire Zone is a specific geographic area where the use of open fires, like campfires or debris burning is restricted and burning permits are suspended. This restriction is instituted by MNRF under the Forest Fires Prevention Act.

Main Street Sidewalk Repairs Starting the Week of June 5

Repairs to the Main Street sidewalk from Brunel to Centre Street are scheduled to begin the week of June 5. The repair work may take up to two weeks for completion.
Residents are advised that Downtown Huntsville businesses continue to remain open and Main Street remains open to traffic and pedestrians. Please follow all posted signage throughout construction to navigate sidewalks.
Emergency Road Closure - June 1, 2023

Huntsville Staff Reviewing Request for the Creation of a Rainbow Crosswalk

During the Regular Council meeting on May 23, Huntsville Council directed staff to review the feasibility of a community request for the creation of a rainbow crosswalk in Huntsville.
No decisions have been made regarding the request, location, or feasibility. Staff will be providing a report at the General Committee meeting on June 28 on their findings. Prior to any decision being made by Council, the public will be engaged to provide their input.
