On behalf of my Council Colleagues, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Town of Huntsville Website. The Town of Huntsville has a population of almost 20,000 permanent residents, as well as many thousands of seasonal residents. The Town offers many amenities to our residents and visitors. Located in North Central Muskoka, Huntsville is a vibrant, prosperous community which supports our tourist based economy while maintaining the smaller community charm that we have become famous for. We are also the gateway to Lake of Bays and Algonquin Park via the Highway 60 Route. Our unique setting, which has made us one of the most renowned recreational destinations in Muskoka, will provide you with memories that you are sure to cherish for years to come.
The Town of Huntsville is a progressive, growing community that offers a variety of year-round recreational activities and business opportunities. Our many lakes, parks and attractions provide enjoyment, as well as economic benefits to our residents, visitors and businesses. As we grow, we are committed to maintaining a strong infrastructure and superior customer service while protecting our environment, keeping in mind the interests of our residents and visitors.
The Town of Huntsville has seen a new focus on urban design and streetscaping. We completed a Waterfront Park in our urban centre. Waterfront access is being enhanced across the whole Community. Huntsville is quickly becoming your first choice in central Ontario with a venue for your recreational, sports, cultural and business outings. Pond Hockey Tournaments, Canadian Triathlons and our Festival of the Arts are just some examples of these activities.
Major preparations are underway throughout our community in 2009, as we prepare for the 2010 G8 World Summit. It will turn the world spotlight on us more and more during the coming year as we receive delegations from far and wide in preparation for the event.
