Municipal By-law Enforcement

As part of the Protective Services Division, the By-law Department is responsible for the enforcement of by-laws passed by Council for the Town of Huntsville. This includes by-laws regulating parking, noise, and skateboarding.

Animal Control

Animal Control is now a part of the Town of Huntsville By-law Department.  Any concerns or complaints regarding dogs barking consistently or running at large, or for pound services and the purchase of a municipal dog license (tag), please call the Animal Control Officer at (705) 789-1751 ext. 2355 or after hours and weekends for animal medical emergencies only, (705) 789-4254.

 

Vicious dog attacks should be reported to the Animal Control Officer and / or the Ontario Provincial Police. 

 

Concerns involving wild animals should be directed to the Ministry of Natural Resources at (705) 645-8747.

Parking By-law Enforcement

Metered parking is available on Main Street.  Additional parking spaces are available (non-metered) at River Mill Park and other municipal lots as well as back and side streets.  Several annual events offer free parking. Recent improvements include an increase in parking spaces available for people with disabilities.

 

Senior Parking Permits are available from the Town for $5.00 and are valid from November 1st to April 30th.  If renewing, please bring in your Parking Permit for a renewal sticker.

Disabled Parking Permits are available anytime for $10.00 and are valid from January 1st to December 31st.  Please bring in your MTO Permit. If renewing, please bring in your Parking Permit for a renewal sticker.

Municipal Licensing

 

The By-law Department is responsible for the enforcement of municipal licensing. A license is required from the municipality for adult entertainment establishments, auctioneers, body piercing parlours, erotica vendors, flea markets, kennels, massage parlours, places of amusement, refreshment vehicles, special events with vendors, tattoo parlours, taxis and transient traders.
