Introduction from the Mayor
WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO PROJECT IN HUNTSVILLE
As many of you are already aware, the Town of Huntsville and the University of Waterloo have signed an agreement in collaboration with the Federal Government through the efforts of our MP, the Honorable Tony Clement, to create a facility here in Huntsville for research in the fields of environmental and ecosystem resilience.
You will see as you explore this site that the project will be a terrific addition to the cultural mosaic of our great community. At this point we have retained the services of Greystone Project Management and Duncan Ross Architect to design and build the development. This will provide many years of local employment and as well it will showcase our excellent local talent.
The legacy of this new component of our community will be profound in the years to come. Combined with the benefits of holding the G8 World Summit here, Huntsville’s path to the future has never been so bright.

University of Waterloo Summit Campus
Site Description
The university site is to be situated within the greater G8 Summit Centre property, centrally located within the scenic Town of Huntsville. The new facility will overlook Cann Lake to the East, being constructed some 35 metres above the Town and surrounding area. The unique location of the university will be terraced into the rugged local Muskoka topography while being fully serviced by all utilities, municipal sewer and water services, parking and roadway access to the front door. The university site will make up approximately 4.5 hectares of a greater 40 Hectare land parcel which includes a vast amount of rolling wooded parkland, the Muskoka Heritage Village and Historic Portage Flyer Train, G8 Summit Centre, Huntsville Seniors Facility, Lions Lookout, a multi-purpose sport field facility and a community walking trail system.
Construction of the facility is slated to start in July/August of 2009 being completed for use during the G8 Summit in June of 2010, after which it will be completed for use by the university.
