Community Living Huntsville

Community Living Huntsville supports people who live with developmental delays/disabilities.  Our goal is to foster an inclusive community throughout Huntsville and North Muskoka.  We respond to the planning, facilitation and support needs of children, youth, adults and seniors as well as their families.

Muskoka/East Parry Sound Community Care Access Centre

The Community Care Access Centre, a division of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare, provides service to residents of Muskoka and East Parry Sound from four offices:  Burk’s Falls, Huntsville, Bracebridge and Gravenhurst.  Case Managers assess clients for the following services including nursing, social work, speech/language pathology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutritional counseling and personal support services.  Service can be provided for individuals of any age, either in the client’s own home or at school.  Placement Co-ordinators assist clients and their families in applying for admission in Long Term Care Facilities.  The CCAC also maintains a directory of organizations which provide health and social services.  This directory can be accessed through the internet at:

Muskoka Literacy Council

The Muskoka Literacy Council provides adult educational support free of charge, academic upgrading for college entry, confidential tutoring in computers, numeracy, literacy, and job and life skills.

 

Family, Youth and Child Services of Muskoka

This organization is your Children’s Aid Society and Children’s Mental Health Centre for the District of Muskoka.  It is their purpose to serve and protect children, strengthen and support families, provide individual, family and group counseling plus heighten community awareness of every child’s need to develop in a safe and caring environment.

Muskoka-Parry Sound Community Mental Health Service

This organization provides crisis intervention and mental health treatment services.  Individuals in crisis are seen within 24 hours of referral and after hours qualified clinicians staff phone service.  These services are available to adults 16 years of age and over.

This program provides service to individuals who experience a serious and persistent mental illness.

Muskoka Family Focus & Children’s Place

Come and visit an Early Years Program, where adults and children meet, share, play and find friendly support and information.  Welcoming staff provide fun, interactive activities for you and your child(ren) to enjoy together.  They are free.

Algonquin Child and Family Services – Great Beginnings

If you are having or just had a baby, come and learn about pregnancy, baby care and healthy eating through the Prenatal Nutrition Program.  Free food, childcare and transportation offered.  Location:  All Saints Church Sutherland Hall.

The Growing Up Program is for parents of children 0-6.  Your children play in a safe and stimulating environment while you share parenting joys and challenges.  Free food, childcare and transportation offered.  Location:  Huntsville Centennial Centre.

All Early Years Programs support Early Literacy in its programs with fun activities to help your children get ready for school.

Alzheimer’s Society of Muskoka

The Alzheimer’s Society of Muskoka leads a number of support groups for caregivers and people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia.  They can be a great source of info, support, respite and camaraderie.

 

Hospice Huntsville

Hospice Huntsville is a volunteer organization, which provides non-medical supportive care to people facing life threatening or terminal illness.  Hospice Huntsville will provide support for the individual and their caregiver at home, in the hospital or in a nursing home as well as bereavement support to those suffering the loss of a loved one.  The service is provided free of charge.

 

YMCA Employment Resource Centre

The Employment Resource Centre is a self-help centre where clients are empowered to be self-sufficient in their job search.  The centre offers job search workshops, computer equipment and a resource library as well as fax, telephone and photocopier access.  All of the services are free of charge and are open to those legally entitled to work in CanadaThis project is funded by the Government of Canada. 

 

Caregivers’ Voice Muskoka/Parry Sound

It is a non-profit community organization that provides support to family caregivers.  A range of services are provided at no cost.  They include:  Caregiver relief, community information and resources, caregiver get-to-gethers, Lending Library, speakers for presentations to groups, website with current articles and a workplace program to bring information about elder care support to workers.

 

YMCA Children’s Services in Huntsville (Licensed Child Care Centre)

YMCA child care programs deliver a stimulating learning experience to children in a  safe environment.  Our program promotes growth and development of the whole child in cognitive, social, emotional and physical areas.  YMCA Child Care in Huntsville serves children aged 18 months to 5 years of age.
