Freedom of Information
Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)
The Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act designs a method for the public to gain access to records within the Clerks Department. The Clerk is the coordinator of municipal records for the Town of Huntsville.
Please visit the ServiceOntario e-Laws website for additional information on the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Access to Records
Many Town of Huntsville records are available without making a request under MFIPPA. Please contact the Clerk to determine whether this is required or not.
If your request does fall under MFIPPA, please print and fill out a Freedom of Information Request Form and mail or bring it in to Town Hall.
Exemptions
Some records or parts of the records may not be publicly accessed based on requirements set out by MFIPPA. These guidelines are in place to protect the rights of another person or organization.
If we are not able to disclose a record, we will state which exemption(s) we are applying to the record(s).
Applicable Fees
In order for the Clerk to process a request under MFIPPA, a $5.00 charge applies. Cash payments must be made in person at Town Hall - 3rd Floor Counter.
Appeal Process
All applicants who have made a request and disagree with the decision we have made to disclose only a portion of a record, have the right to appeal our decision to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) relating to access of the records and/or personal information. For more information or to access an appeal form, please visit the IPC website.
