The Clerk's Department is an essential link between the general public and Council.

The Clerk's Department is an essential link between Huntsville, the general public and Council. The primary role of the Clerk's Department is driven by provincial legislation, most notably The Municipal Act, The Municipal Elections Act, and The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

The Clerk's Department performs a variety of legal functions for the Corporation and provides administrative support to Council and its Committees.  The department further ensures that all of the actions taken by Council are recorded and communicated.  Services include:

  • Marriage Licensing
  • Freedom of Information
  • Records Management - maintaining corporate records
  • Vital Statistics: Death Registrations
  • Municipal Elections
  • Road and shore road allowance closures
  • Budget Preparation for Clerk's Department and for Council
  • Commissioner of Oaths
