Chief Administrative Office
Message from the CAO
Welcome to the Town of Huntsville. As home to the 2010 G8 Summit of world leaders and the largest community in Muskoka, our vibrant community is accustomed to laying out the welcome mat for visitors. While we are known around the world for our hospitality, we also have a golden reputation for our quality of life and "open for business" attitude.
More than just lakes, trees and stunning geography, Huntsville is home to a brilliant downtown core, great recreation facilities and a united seasonal and year round population dedicated to making our community a sustainable place to visit, work and raise a family. We are home to the University of Waterloo Centre for Environmental Studies and Canada Summit Centre recreation complex. With accommodation options fit for a President or a modest family budget, Huntsville truly has something for everyone.
As Chief Administrative Officer for this world class municipality, I am honoured to work for a progressive Mayor and Council, alongside a very dedicated group of staff that oversee the operations of all town departments. More specifically, the CAO's office is responsible for:
- Assisting Council in the development of a corporate plan for the Town of Huntsville
- Communicating with all levels of government (municipal, provincial, federal)
- Coordinating staff recommendations to Council
- Developing and implementing corporate policies and programs
- Directing the administration of agreements relating to salaries, benefits and working conditions
- Presenting Council with annual estimates of revenue and expenditures
-
Interacting with local boards, commissions and agencies
-
Managing the general business affairs of the municipality
Whether you are coming for a weekend, a month or a lifetime, Huntsville will always feel like home.
Sincerely,
Kelly James Pender
Chief Administrative Officer
