Post Secondary Education
In addition to being connected to nearby post-secondary institutions, such as Georgian College and Nipissing University Muskoka Campuses, a major focus of Huntsville's Strategic Plan (2002) was the promotion of the development of additional post-secondary education opportunities. As a result of funding provided by the 2010 G8 Summit Legacy Fund, the University of Waterloo now has a permanent facility in Huntsville devoted to the study of research of environmental science and ecosystem resilience.
In addition, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine opened its doors in 2005 with its first crop of students studying in Huntsville in 2007.
