Orchard Park Apple Festival - August 24, 2017 from 10am-3pm

Orchard Park is located at 3 Airport Road, at the west end of the Hunter's Bay Trail along the shore of Lake Vernon.

A group of residents have been working hard, pruning and grafting the existing fruit trees, removing dead wood and invasive species, and planting new zone-hardy fruit trees and bushes.

To celebrate their efforts and to pick the apples from the orchard trees, we welcome the community to join us with your family, friends and a basket to collect apples during the annual Apple Picking Festival. Details:

  • Thursday, August 24, 2017
  • 10am until 3pm
  • Orchard Park located at 3 Airport Road on Hunter's Bay Trail
  • Bring a basket or bag and come harvest some apples
  • Bring your family and friends
  • Free of charge

Learn about harvesting and handling apples on the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs website.

Battery Recycling Program

The Town has partnered with Raw Materials Company (RMC) to provide containers in Town buildings where you can bring your used batteries. The batteries are then taken to a recycling facility in Ontario where over 98% of the materials are recovered for recycling! For more information on RMC and their process, please visit their website.

You can drop dead batteries off at the following locations:

  • Canada Summit Centre: front desk and pool desk
  • Active Living Centre: 2nd floor foyer
  • Civic Centre: 2nd floor across from Customer Service
  • Algonquin Theatre: lobby
  • Huntsville Public Library: lobby and circulation desk

Important: Please tape the ends of your batteries before dropping them into the bin. This helps ensure they don't short circuit.
