The District of Muskoka is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all Municipal Water and Sewage Works, and Roads and Waste Management in Muskoka, including the towns of Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville , Bala , Port Carling, MacTier , and Port Severn.

Fees are pro-rated by water use; a monthly minimum service charge is based on the size of the water meter. Surcharges apply for the replacement and/or upgrading of water and sewer lines. The figures above reflect the capacity for Water and Sewage Treatment facilities in Huntsville only; Sewage Treatment figures reflect the total of two facilities located in Huntsville (one on Hwy 60, one at Hidden Valley , both similar capacity ).

The prices provided by Union Gas (below) represent a mid-efficient application; commercial businesses usually install mid-efficient furnaces. Prices quoted include all charges and are subject to annual changes.

 

Propane is also widely used throughout Muskoka. According to Budget Propane (705) 687-5608, James Callow:

  • prices are based on volume
  • a small commercial user may use +/- 5,000 litres/year @.35/l. (10/2002)
  • a large resort may use +/- 50,000 litres/year @.30/l. (10/2002)
  • price per litre may vary
