Huntsville/Lake of Bays residents choose from an excellent selection of schools including public schools (administered provincially through the Trillium Lakelands District School Board), private and Christian schools, schools administered by the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, and Montessori.

The Huntsville area is also directly connected to nearby post-secondary institutions such as Georgian College and Nipissing University.  Promoting the development of additional post-secondary education opportunities in the community is a major focus of Huntsville 's Strategic Plan (2002). A University of Waterloo facility in Huntsville is in the planning and building stages and will be used for research in the fields of environmental and ecosystem resilience.

Huntsville Public Library services include a variety of children's programs, Outreach for the home bound, and public access to the Internet. The Algonquin Academy of Wilderness and Wildlife Art provides educational opportunities for students with both an artistic bent, and an appreciation for the wilderness and wildlife, so abundant in the region. A strong support group is also available for home schooling.
